Craftsmanship and artistry is evident in the work of Dorothy Jett-Carter.  Each scarf is hand made from authentic Bogolanfini (Mud Cloth) enhanced with coordinating fabrics and lined with soft velour for warmth. Mud Cloth is a traditional hand-woven Malian/West African tribal cotton cloth, dyed with organic pigments and fermented mud. Each scarf is individually made and no two scarves are alike. Dorothy Jett-Carter is an award-winning textile and jewelry artist whose work has been shown and sold nationally at such diverse locations as the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D. C., The Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, Michigan, The River Gallery in Chattanooga, TN and numerous other fine art galleries, museums and exhibits throughout the U.S. and Canada.

When Dorothy began her artistic career during the 1990’s, she traveled throughout West Africa. While there, she studied with tribal village women, especially Wolof women in Senegal, learning traditional tribal fabrics, weaving techniques, fiber treatment and intricate beading techniques that would become the foundation and signature of her work.
